Yea potty! Yea Lost!

Just wanted to say that I am happy "Lost" is back tonight. I really enjoy this show, even though it can be creepy at times. For those of you who watched the recap episode last night, Through the Looking Glass, did you see the ad featuring Sawyer? The theme music was "Bad to the Bone." I likes me some Sawyer! And the ad for Locke was fun, too. His theme music was Patsy Cline's "Crazy"...
Also happy to report that Savannah has peed and pooped in the potty quite a few times lately. She * * * I swear I just jinxed myself! As I was typing JUST THEN she came in and said, "I pee pee." Which she did. I hadn't put a diaper on her as she had just peed in the potty 10 minutes ago. Well, I guess I can't really blame her. She was sitting on the USC beanbag. I'm just surprised she didn't poop.

A+ for Bee Movie

We took Savannah to her first "real" movie this weekend and she did real well! We were kinda bored and decided to go the the $1 movies. This way if she was too rowdy, we could leave and it wouldn't be a big deal. So we watched the "Bee Movie" and it was pretty cute. I'm sure it helped that it was animated. We enjoyed a Friday night out as a family all for the low, low price of $12 ($4. 50 admission and $ 7.50 for popcorn and drink). I'd say that was a deal!

What the...?

OK- I don't think "What the f*** Fridays" should be reserved for photos only. For example....
If you have kids you are, of course, regularly submitted to watching children's TV shows. Gone are the days of Tom & Jerry, Smurfs, and Scooby Doo (without Scrappy). I know they are still on Boomerang, but that's not the point...
I had heard of "Yo Gabba Gabba," but had never seen it until today. Oh. Ma. Gah. What the f***?!?! First of all, the host, I'll call him Mr. Gabba Gabba is clearly a rejct from the 90's group Dee-Lite (remember "Groove is in the Heart" and Lady Miss Keir?)
The costumed characters are just sad and weird. The striped one, Brobee, definately rode the short bus home today. The show itself is kinda hip and has cool colors, but it's like Sesame Street, Romper Room and Teletubbies in rehab. The guest star today was Biz Markie!! ("Oh baby youuuu, got what I neeeed...") Savannah looked at me and said "I want that boy to stop."
And then there's this animated part called "Moochie and Pootie." Really? A Character called Pootie? And that whole part too closely resembles Japanamation for me.
Have I mentioned the music? Some of it is kinda catchy and fun, but most of it sounds like it was written on a cocktail napkin and recorded with a Cassio 110 or whatever that electronic keyboard was that everyone got/wanted for Christmas in 1988.
No matter what I think of it, I guess the most important thing is that kids like it. And dog-gone-it if Savannah wasn't sitting there taking it all in.

Idol/gym chat...

Well, today deserved more than just a Wordless Wednesday...
First of all I want to say "thank you," to American Idol for once again, making SC look like a bunch of back-woods A-holes. For example, the charming Josh Rosen who said after getting rejected, "They ain't gonna had the best astist-es!" You sure told them! And of course there was the rousing medley of "When He Cheats (or whatever)." Nice. Truely, I say, "thank you," because with advertisements for the South like that, maybe some of the Yankees* and other half-backs will decide to stay home! (*discalimer- I can say that b/c I married one!)
The next thing I wanted to mention is the class I took tonight. Steve has been a regular member of the gym for a while so I thought I would try it. Not b/c it was a resolution or anything, but b/c my pal Jenn is going, too. So tongiht's class is called "Zumba" - not sure if it is specific to this gym or what - and it's like latin dance class on crack. For an hour we shimmied our shoulders, rolled our hips, hopped in circles, wagged our ass and did all sorts of salsa/mambo/cha-cha moves to crazy latin/hip-hop music. I sweated my butt off and it was actually fun. I've always enjoyed dancing so it seems like a good fit for me. Now if I can just go on a regular basis....they do have childcare so that is good. I'll keep you posted....

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Overall - the girls weekend was so much fun and a much needed break for all of us. We didn't even let the REALLY cold and rainy weather hold us back. Here's the weekend in a nutshell:

Met up with the girls Friday evening and went to dinner at Bacco's. The 4 of us had a blast giggling at the menu- Them was some mightly tasty paperdoll telephones. Then we went downtown and checked into our hotel. We were rollin' in the big daddy party wagon for the weekend and wouldn't you know it - I scraped the damn thing trying to get out of this itty bitty parking lot!! Next, we were off to Tommy Condon's for some fine Irish music by Steve Carroll and the Bograts! So much fun! We sang along and I even got to get on stage with them! Better than that, they played my favorite song, "The Unicorn," (see Tunes below)just like when I was there 12 years ago!!
Saturday we shopped, shopped, shopped despite the rain. We had a mini-party in White House - Black Market trying on things. We shopped all the way down King Street to Cupcake for some treats! We hopped a trolley back to the hotel and then took a nap! Next it was off to dinner at Social. It was very good, even if the waitress wasn't. Then we got word that that my friend's 2 year-old son had an accident so we jumped a cab to the hospital! Even though he had surgery/stitches, he ended up being OK and was home by morning. So, the remaining 3 of us went to Wet Willies and back to Tommy Condon's. It was fun, but just not the same... We shopped a little more the next morning, had lunch and then hit the road for home!
Hotel stay for 1 person... $112
dinner,drinks, shopping ...$125
repair van damage... $560
weekend with old frinds... priceless!

Rudy the Red-bowed Reindeer

For Christmas, my fabulous friend Heather gave us tons of cool presents, including a Webkinz reindeer we named Rudy. For those of you who are clueless, let me fill you in:
Much like Wii, Webkinz are in high demand, particularly for the 8-12 year old girl set. It begins with a cute stuffed animal that comes with a special code. You go on-line and register your pet with this code and -Tada!- you have a virtual pet with its own room and stuff and the capability to play games to earn cash to buy things like beds made out of ice blocks, polka-dot pajamas and wallcovering made out of graham crackers!!!
One of my favorite games is "Quizzy's Trivia." You answer a variaty of questions and earn cash. This is all on-line "pretend cash" and stuff for your pet. One of the questions was someting like, Which actress starred in Freaky Friday?" and since it's multiple choice I knew it was Lindsay Lohan and not Jodie Foster. Anyway, after you answer the question, it gives a little more info on each subject. I had to laugh- it's clearly aimed at the younger set b/c after I answered "Lindsay Lohan," it said "Lindsay Lohan is known for her singing and acting talents." Really? I thought it was b/c she's a crack whore and a rehab reject...
The whole thing is actually really cute and fun and DANG! now I've found something else to do on the computer! Hmm....think I'll buy that candy cane window I've had my eye one while I'm at work tomorrow. All I need is 200 more Kinzcash....Rudy will love it!

What the...?

OK- I had so much fun finding my Wordless Wednesday this week that I decided to institute a new weekly posting: "What the F*** Friday?!?" It may be a blast from the past or some thing charming Savannah was doing- you never know. And unlike Wordless Wednesday, there will be some background info or commentary so you won't be completely left thinking "What the...?"

*disclaimer: I am not responsible for any backlash or whiplash that may occur when viewing said photo, nor do I claim responsibility for what I or subject was thinking at the time of the photo.

Today's pic is:

July 2004- A friend hosted a ghetto party. There were so many to choose from, but this one really seemed to ooze "What the...?" Al I can say is "MALT LIQUOR!"

10 on Tuesday

Ok- It still breaks my heart sometimes when Savannah is being a total Daddy's brat, but here are 10 things she's done lately that absolutely make me smile:
1. On Christmas Eve, we were out in Daddy's office hanging out while he was loading some tunes. A few of my current fav's were playing so the 2 of us just danced along! There's Savannah on the treadmill like a stage jumping up and down, "no, no, no" (from "Rehab", of course).
2. When Daddy is gone, she'll let me hold her like a baby at bedtime and sing songs to her.
3. She'll give kisses European style sometimes- one on each cheek!
4. She slept like a champ while we were in IL. I always kinda sweat how that will go, but she did really well.
5. She has also done very well with saying the blessing lately. For a while, she refused to do it, but just the other day she said, "Gah our fadder, Gah our fa...sing wiss me, mama!" Eyes closed and everything!
6. While we were at brother-in-laws' house, she and my niece crawled up in my lap and the 3 of us sang Christmas songs.7. If you kid around with her and call her another name, "You're a bossy Flossie," for example, she'll say, "I not a bossy fossie," and you say, "yes you are," and she gets mad, "I NOT A BOSSY FOSSIE!" Then you say, "what are you then?" and she says, "Snannah. Gweer. (last name)." so funny!
8. She loves to be tickled and I think she likes me to tickle her best!
9. I went to pick her up after work today and she had on: a sparkly dress around her neck, a purple top, some pink wrap, a flower costume, princess shoes and a pastel backpack all on top of her regular clothes! We tried to take her pic, but she refused! damn paparatzi...
10. At 2 years old she is so fun, smart, brave, silly and has a growing personality!

I love Nano!

Oh yeah- forgot to add this earlier...When traveling with small children, it's always a good idea to have entertainment readily available. Generally when we're in the van, Savannah says, "I want to watch a boobie (movie)." We were flying this trip, so we brought along a laptop and a few videos. However, we discoved a really cool thing! I got a nano for Christmas (apparently so did half of the continental U.S.) and Steve found where you can purchase and download TV shows like you can purchase songs. So we loaded a few Mickey Mouse Clubhouse shows (her absolute fav!) and we were good to go! Here she is waiting in the airport: How cute?!?! I guess you could call it a pea-pod! Hmm....Apple are you listening? Next big marketing campaign.....

We're Baaack!

Dang! It's been a fun, busy, long Christmas break! There was all the merriment before Christmas, then Christmas eve and day.

Then we went to IL for a week! We got in from IL about 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday night. Savannah did very well all week, considering the hustle and lack of any type of schedule. Not that I'm a stickler for a schedule at 2 years old, but moms know what I mean! She LOVED playing with her cousins and kept up with them pretty good!

As mentioned before, we went to a water park one day and stayed a night there. It really snowed while we were in town. We played in the snow one day and she had a blast! Even Grandpa got in on the action. I've looked into loading a pic slideshow, but can't seem to get straight info. Any ideas, suggestions out there? Anyway, here's one of my favorite pics:
Poker night was Friday night and we were all out a bit late, but not as late as some.... Sunday was all day Christmas party with the family. More gifts and more food! Monday was New Year's eve. We hung out with some friends who had a Wii (sp?) and I must say, I can see what all the fuss it over. That thing is pretty cool! Then we went to brother-in-law's house for more Poker, but we were in bed at a reasonable 1:00.
So, that's our week in a nutshell! Back to school on Monday!post signature
