10 on Tuesday

10 reasons why I'm really glad spring is just around the corner...

10. Spring Break- that's a whole 10 days off of work! Whoo-hoo! Especially since this time of year the kids get a little crazy and behavior goes right out the door...I called the police on a child last week. no lie.
9. New clothes- new season means a few new clothes. 'Nuf said.
8. Time change- even though it takes some getting used to, it's much nicer to have the extra daylight in the evenings.
7. warmer weather- and hopefully it will dry up all this crud and funk b/c I am sick of everyone being sick!
6. Progress in the house building project- I feel like this is going to take forever!
5. 5 weeks- After spring break, there are only 5 more weeks of program. That is, 5 more weeks of work with kids and staff. After that, I go into solo reporting mode for our grant.
4. My birthday- even though after 21 they just aren't that spectacular anymore, some extra attention, presents and icing make it all good.
3. Did I mention spring break?
2. Easter! According to my paster, this holiday should be more special and celebrated than Christmas...agree or not, it's a wonderful day spent at church and with family. And it usually involves yummy food and Cadbury creme eggs.
1. Afterall, you gotta get through spring to get to summer!

Drips

That's what Savannah called it when she was puking at 3:00 am this morning. "I got drips," she said. And drip she did. She threw up about 3 times through the night and I did 2 loads of a.m. laundry. I would have thought it was all the junk she ate at previousley mentioned parties, but that she got sick several times makes me wonder. DANG! Just when I thought our family couldn't contract any more crud....
When I got to school this morning after picking up medicine from the pharmancy and taking Savannah to mama's, the song coming from music class was, "Doctor, is there nothing I can take? Doctor, to relive this belly ache?...Put the lime in the coconut and and drink 'em all up..." How appropriate.

Beautiful spring day!

I've been kinda slack blog-wise, but been pretty busy otherwise. This past week we had a few house meetings. The only thing we have decided is which piece of land we're getting (my brother and I split some family land). Other than that, we are still trying to figure it out. Here's what we have in a nutshell:
We have a good idea of what kind of house we want. We originally found a house plan, let's call that plan A, and thought we'd have a builder do it. Well, apparently that was the Cadillac of house plans so we moved on.
Next, we met with a national chain builder b/c a friend os Steve's recently built with them and was very happy. They didn't have anything exactly like we were looking for but they came up with a great floorplan (plan B) that kinda looks like the outside I want. Cost is reasonable.
However, we met with another builder, local family business, and we liked everything he had to say. But if we use him, we need to come up with another floorplan because A is too big and expensive and plan B will not match the exterior I really want. Cost is very reasonable.
So...we are still looking. Argh!

Today was a really beautiful, fun day. It was sunny and about 70 degrees. After church, Savannah and I went to a birthday party for a friend who lives out of town now (the party was local). It was at the park and all the guests got bubbles and kites. The kites were a big hit and it was so cool to see 7 or so kites all in the air at once. It was nice to visit with friends and the kids had a good time.

This afternoon was the family egg hunt at church. The ladies that put it together did a great job. Of course there was a egg hunt for the kidos but there were also games and prizes for adults, too. I wound up with a nifty pair of Bubba teeth! We did a relay race, cupcake walk, guessing game, craft and a hot dog supper. We brought home so much loot - it was like halloween! I'll try to get some pics up this week. I'm too tired to do much else right now.

What the...?

Perhaps this would have been a better "Wordless Wednesday" b/c I don't know much about this one except it's Steve and a co-worker apparently stopping for cocktail hour in a cavern in Europe somewhere.....

ACHOOO!

So we met with previousley mentioned builder lady and it's not as bad as it seemed, but we still don't have a definate house plan or builder...this week we're trying to finalize the land...I'll keep you posted.
Steve is over the flu, but now I have a tremendous head cold. Puffs with lotion and Theraflu P.M. are my friends. I can handle a cold alright as long as it doesn't progress.
Steve and Savannah will actually be in IL this weekend for a wedding. Yee-ha! So I am planning on shopping (big consignment sale), going to the spa, and hanging out with some friends one night. I just hope I can hang!
The weather is exceptionally crappy here today. They even cancelled my school program and all school functions this evening b/c of the threat of bad weather. In fact, it's thundering quite a bit right now, so I think I will end this post right here.
